Glens of Antrim and Causeway Coast Walk



May 21- 27 2005



May 21 Collect walkers at approximately 12 pm at Belfast train station or the Europa Hotel, which has bus transport from airport. Onwards to the Antrim Coast and the Carnlough area. Optional short walk before welcome dinner. Full briefing session. Irish Music Evening DBB

May 22 Going South, we start the walk over Agnews Hill, west of Larne and north of Ballyclare, said to be the area from which the ancestors of Mark Twain came from .... we continue along to Glenarm. Many sites to visit and discover. Excellent views across the North Irish Sea to Scotland and south to the Isle of Man. Overnight Carnlough DBB

May 23 Walk in Glenarriff National Park, the "Queen" of the Antrim Glens. Mystical sites abound in the forest and offer the opportunity to go "leprechaun" watching. Overnight Carnlough DBB

May 24 A morning visit/climb to the top of Slemish Hill, said to be the place where St. Patrick tended sheep while in captivity in NI. Moving on we have a lovely afternoon walk at Fair Head and Murlough Bay, with views across the water to Rathlin and Mull of Kintyre. An area steeped in history and folklore. Irish Music Evening. Overnight Ballycastle DBB

May 25 Early morning ferry to Rathlin Island, one of natures beauties, with a lovely walk around the SW of the island and maybe a visit to Robert Bruce's cave if the tide level permits... the history, culture of this island goes back over 3000 years. Overnight Ballycastle DBB



May 26 The Antrim Coasts classic walk along the coast/cliffs, starting with a visit to famous Carrick-a -Rede rope bridge, we take the coastal trail all the way, past Dunluce Castle to the Giants Causeway. A good days walking and a nice challenge. A chance to play the Giants "Organ". This must be one of the seven wonders of the world. Overnight Ballycastle DBB

May 27 After full "Ulster" fry breakfast, return coach to Belfast



Fee: $1950 CDN (approximately €1147 Euros or $1500 US)
A non-refundable deposit of $500 CDN must accompany your reservation.
The remainder of $1450 CDN is due not later than March 1, 2005
